CHARACTER INTERPRETATION
» Appearance: FDR dresses in suits. Not just any suit though, but in high top dollar suits. One of the reasons the bad guy finds FDR is because his suit is custom made. FDR is not afraid of three piece suit with a little bit of color. FDR has brown hair, but towards the top it appears to have blonde highlights. He has very blue eyes and keeps his face surprisingly close shaven. FDR has been described by Lauren as having tiny t-rex hands, but he refuses to acknowledge this fact. His hands are in fact adequate.

» Suitability: N/A.

» Orientation: Straight. FDR has never shown any signs of ever finding a man attractive. He has an emotional and spiritual connection with his work partner, Tuck, but nothing more than a bromance. He has multiple women that he sees in his day to day life. In order to show how much he's fallen for Lauren they show him turning down a "international booty call" with a flight attendant. She shows up at his door during a layover and he says no. His colleagues even call him "the assassin" when it comes to women due to how frequently he beds them.

» Personality: Lauren is the one to describe FDR the best. He's a one day rental when it comes to women. He has the emotional intelligence of a fifteen year old boy, but there's always a reason. It's seen through his conversations with Tuck early on the film that FDR has never felt any desire to get close to someone that's not Tuck or his family. Tuck asks if he'd ever want the emotional security they have with a woman to which FDR responds with no. His grandmother tells Lauren that after his parents died it became unnecessary for him to form any other attachments. He's very slow to trust people completely. What FDR and Tuck have isn't just a friendship to FDR. It's a bond. This becomes apparent when FDR is willing to kill one of the targets just to save Tuck despite orders. FDR and Tuck have been partners for years now and the high risk situations seem to have only made them closer. Tuck's even invited to multiple family events with FDR's family. This kind friendship kind of makes up for what FDR lacked in a real honest to goodness love life. He got all his long term emotional needs from Tuck and when it came to women he didn't need them for anything more than sex and a good time. Anything beyond that just wasn't needed. His sexual prowess has even reached legendary proportions in the office. His coworkers call him The Assassin when it comes to women. He never misses his mark with them. Unfortunately after one day he tends to get tired of them and that's the end of that. FDR's life is about himself about fifty percent of the time. The other fifty is evenly divided to his Nana and Tuck. Which is well known fact given that she raised him after his parents died and Tuck is his only friend at all. Which is seen when Tuck is on a date and FDR calls him repeatedly when he doesn't call to cancel their C.H.I.P.S marathon.

FDR has an odd fascination with movies. This could be from his loss as a boy, but no one really knows. They're not real life. He doesn't have a problem with any genre really. He's seen watching The Titanic in one scene and he seems to enjoy it rather than appear bored by the love story. Though during that time period he viewed the film he was still incredibly cynical towards actual romance. When he sees a commercial for the dating website that Lauren and Tuck sign up for he calls it "pathetic" and looks irritated by the thought of someone even signing up. When Tuck tells him he signed up and he's going on a date with a woman from the website then things get worse. FDR openly vocalizes how it will probably end badly. Though mostly it just sounds like his job has probably jaded him in certain areas such as personal security.

For as much of an asshole that FDR can be this doesn't seem to stop him in the woman department. He has multiple dates. He is the one to give Tuck dating advice due to Tuck's absence from the dating pool. He even has romantic things set up with women who live in different countries when they're in the area. FDR can act like an asshole, but when he has to turn it on he can turn it on. But when he does get shut down you can count on him to not stop trying. Lauren visibly shuts him down in the video store, but FDR breaks privacy laws and exploits his job to get her contact information. He shows up at her work ready to try again. He's determined to make her warm up to him and challenges her to a date after some word play. When Lauren starts taking jabs are his personality and emotional intelligence on their date then FDR kind of loses his cool. He starts throwing in his own jabs at her personality, but when Lauren needs him to pretend to be her boyfriend he doesn't miss a beat. FDR is very flexible and will easily forget a woman insulting him if he needs to.

This doesn't mean FDR isn't capable of being anything more than a "one day rental" though. He's capable of making the change, but no one made him want to until he met Lauren. At the beginning of his relationship with Lauren she becomes incredibly intriguing to him. Though mostly it's fueled by a competitive nature that just wants to beat out Tuck. There's no telling what would have happened if Tuck had thrown in the towel originally. FDR probably could have just walked away, but that's unknown. When it comes to tricky romantic situations you can typically find FDR shying away or trying not to get involved. This is confirmed by how astonished Tuck is by the fact that FDR is actively talking about a woman for longer than a day. Long term commitments make him awkward. Like when his grandparents are renewing their vows FDR is heard making old people jokes when Tuck brings up how in love they are at the reception. Not to mention his high risk job makes it almost impossible for him to make an emotional connection because he can't tell them the truth about what he does. When he introduces himself he tells people he's a cruise ship captain and leaves it at that.

FDR's continued growing connection with Lauren has changed him a lot for the better when it comes to women. He's capable of making the long term connection even if he does believe Lauren picked Tuck or should pick Tuck. He brings Lauren home to visit his family and you soon learn that he's never done that with a woman before. It's seen that maybe FDR's bold and brash nature is just an act in how quickly he jumps for her to pick Tuck.

When you get FDR around his family the situation changes. He has a lot of love and admiration for a young cousin of his. Whenever he sees the boy he always tells Tuck how great that kid is or how much he loves him. Mostly this is due to the fact that the kid does whatever he wants and doesn't care how it makes him look. Which is interesting because ninety percent of what FDR does and wears is designed to make him look good. FDR is extremely different around his Nana. He's no longer mouthy and looking to be a massive dick to people. He's sweet and caring. He even seems to live by a piece of advice she gave him that their are no mistakes. His Nana is the woman who raised him and she's the woman he's never going to betray it seems.

With other people though FDR is kind of a jerk. He's a self centered jackass who doesn't a second trying to his own confidence. But at the exact same time FDR would risk his life for anyone if they asked him to. He's a federal agent and he definitely feels a sense of duty to protect people. It could stem from the fact that he couldn't protect his family as a boy. His Nana reveals at a family dinner that FDR wore a Superman costume everywhere as a boy. This very well could be an insight into why he chose this job. No one really knows why he got into this line of work though, but it's definitely a line of work that he's exceptionally good at.

Ya know--I kinda always thought Heaven would be pretty boring. Harps and fat flying babies right? I guess you bang it out and wake up in a comfy bed? That's fine. I apparently was cool with it because I'm exhausted. [ There's a huge smile on the screen accompanied by a wink. FDR is super pleased with the situation despite the fact that he was just with Tuck and Lauren moments ago in his eyes. He's open to the idea of this being Heaven or some sort of weird afterlife. It's not that upsetting to be dead if he's being honest. He's still not a hundred percent sure what is going on though to be honest. He could have just been knocked out up on the freeway. That wouldn't explain how he got here though would it? He's pretty sure hospitals don't strip you naked to care for you.

Unless--sex hospital? No. Nope. Not a thing.

The angle shifts and it becomes apparent that FDR is shirtless and has yet to put his pants on. Whoops. Sorry, guys. You're dealing with a guy with very little shame in regards to his body. Besides it's not like no one has ever seen a penis before. ]
I am curious about one thing and it's this. [ He lifts a finger and loops it around the brown leather collar and pulls at it. ] It's kinda weird and I'm starting to feel like this is a bad BDSM club. Do they have BDSM in Heaven? [ He purses his lips as he tries to mull that over. He doesn't get very far and finally waves his hand. It's not actually that important upon further reflection. ]

I'm gonna go put my suit on and then I'm hoping I can get some answers alright? Like--who the hell do I thank for that awesome night? Alright. Bye, kids. [ He winks and the feed fades. ]

It's probably not the first time that FDR has woke up in a mystery bedroom. Usually it's just because he can't remember the woman's name from the night before. He'd spend most of the morning calling her babe or sweetheart, but never settle on her actual name. Sometimes if he could swing it he'd try to get a look at her mail, but that's not always that reliable. Sometimes they go by a shortened version of their name or sometimes they use a nickname. If the name doesn't jog any memories then FDR just keeps quiet until he can politely leave for work. Apparently cruise ship captains have really early mornings. One day he's gonna meet a woman who actually knows a thing or two about cruise ship captains and he'll be fucked. At least he doesn't have Tuck's cover though. The traveling Travel Agent is just bullshit. Who actually believes that? Sometimes FDR is deeply curious as to how Katie bought that lie from him for so long.

Now is not the time to worry about that stuff though. Now is time to worry about why these sheets are so soft. Well, not so much worry as wonder. He was gonna have to get a thread count off these bad boys and ask the woman where she got them. He was also gonna have to figure out how she managed to tire him out that much. She must've been some kinda woman to make FDR just wanna roll over and go back to sleep. Most of the time he's up and planning his escape by five in the morning. He doesn't actively stay too late if he can help it. The only woman he wanted to spend the day with after was Lauren. Lauren was good. Lauren chose Tuck.

Wait.

Lauren was in danger. They were all in danger. The last thing he actually remembered was Lauren standing in the middle of the unfinished freeway while that SUV flipped towards them. He can't hear much over the sound of the car rolling. Tuck is standing on the other side of the freeway and he's screaming too. That's all FDR can remember. He doesn't remember what happened beyond that. Maybe he was dead? The sheets certainly did feel like Heaven. Maybe this was Heaven? Where was Tuck? If FDR died then Tuck died too. Lauren as well. Why was he laying in bed alone? Why did it feel like he just got laid? Did he get seventy-two virgins? He always thought he was a damn good lay, but he must have really stepped up his game. He was exhausted. Spent. He probably wouldn't mind another round, but he couldn't care one way or the other.

FDR pushed himself up into a seated position in the bed and that's when he felt it. His neck. He lifted a hand slowly only to find himself touching cool leather. He gave it a pull only to find it not giving. He grunted after a moment and lifted a second hand to help. After a few moments he finally figured out he was getting absolutely nowhere with this collar thing. He'd find something to cut it off later. Right now he was more preoccupied with the fact that this place--was insane looking.

He climbed out of the bed and made his way to the window to look out. He didn't even bother to wrap the sheet around his lower half. His junk wasn't his concern. He'd been naked before. He had nothing to be ashamed of. Once he got eyes on the view he went a little wide eyed and nodded. "Totally not a bootycall."
